Every child has dreams, curiosity and the ability to learn.

For children growing up with limited opportunities, however, access to new experiences, learning resources and professional exposure can often be restricted.

Pankh is an initiative of OCS Foundation and Expeditions For Cause that creates opportunities for underprivileged children to learn beyond their everyday environment through experiential workshops, educational support and meaningful interaction with people from different professions.

Why Pankh

Giving Children Opportunities to Explore Beyond the Classroom

Children learn not only through textbooks, but also through experience.

Meeting new people, visiting new places, understanding how different professions work and participating in practical activities can broaden the way a child thinks about education and the future.

Pankh was created to provide such opportunities to children who may otherwise have limited access to them.

The objective is to strengthen their capacity to think, understand, learn and pursue their dreams.

How Pankh Works

Experiential Learning Through Regular Workshops

Pankh is an ongoing programme in which children from different evening schools participate in outdoor experiential workshops.

The workshops introduce children to new subjects, environments and experiences that encourage observation, curiosity and learning.

The programme also includes regular feedback and interaction sessions so that children have opportunities to engage, ask questions and reflect on what they have experienced.

Learning Through Real World Interaction

Meeting People Who Can Inspire New Possibilities

Exposure to different professions can help children understand the many paths that education and learning can create.

Through Pankh, OCS Foundation has arranged interactions with professionals and people from different industries who share their knowledge, experience and personal journeys with participating children.

These sessions are intended to motivate children, widen their understanding of possible careers and encourage them to think more confidently about their own aspirations.

More than 50 professional and industry interactions have been arranged through the initiative.

Digital Playgrounds

Expanding Access to Computers and Digital Learning

Access to computers can open new opportunities for learning, exploration and skill development.

OCS Foundation has initiated pilot projects to establish Digital Playgrounds, or computer labs, for children.

The intention is to extend these facilities to locations where access to digital resources is limited and where they can support children’s education and learning.

Libraries

Creating Spaces for Reading and Learning

Books give children the opportunity to explore ideas beyond the limits of their immediate surroundings.

As part of Pankh, OCS Foundation has initiated pilot projects for libraries that can provide children with greater access to books and learning resources.

The Foundation also plans to encourage support through the contribution of books and laptops for children’s education.

Professionals can interact with children and introduce them to different careers, skills, industries and life experiences.

Participate in a Pankh Interaction

Corporate Participation

Corporate organisations and their employees can participate as Expeditions For Cause volunteers and contribute their time, knowledge or resources to Pankh activities.

Partner With Pankh

Support a Child

The current Pankh programme provides an option to support a child for one year with a contribution of Rs 6,000.

Support a Pankh Child

Support a Computer Lab

Contributions can support the establishment of a Digital Playground or computer lab.

The current programme estimates the cost of establishing a computer lab at approximately Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, depending on the facility.

A contribution of approximately Rs 2.3 lakh can support the establishment of a library in a school.
